Top 5 Best Liquid Eyeliners

Top 5 Best Liquid Eyeliners

I started wearing makeup at a pretty young age. I was 10 years old in the fifth grade when I applied eyeliner, specifically a cream liner, for the first time and it quickly progressed to me trying liquid eyeliner. As someone who’s a makeup fanatic, I’ve tried a ton of liquid eyeliners in the past that I now can name the top 5 best liquid eyeliners. These are my personal favorites, of course, but these are the top 5 best liquid eyeliners I think you should try.

  1. Maybelline Ultra Liner® Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

This was the very first liquid eyeliner I tried when I was 10 years old and it became a constant everyday use after I turned 13. To this day, at 25, it’s honestly still my favorite liquid eyeliner.

What I like about this specific product is that it’s waterproof. I can wear it in any season, any temperature and my eyeliner will stay on. It does not smudge on my eyelids whether it’s humid out or I’m sweating. It’s literally bullet-proof.

This eyeliner right now only comes in 3 colors: black, brown and gray. If you’re looking for a black eyeliner that’s actually black and bold, I highly recommend this one. The color isn’t a faded black like most liquid eyeliners and you can drastically see how dark it is when you apply it.

The tip of this liquid eyeliner is thin, so it makes applying the eyeliner easier and quicker. If you’re going for a small cat-eye/winged look, this liquid eyeliner is perfect for you. The thin tip makes it easy to make a small winged look and the darkness of the color makes the eyeliner pop out more on your eyes.

It’s also affordable. For those of you who are on a budget or don’t find it necessary to spend too much money on an eyeliner, then this one is perfect for you. You can get a cat-eye/winged look that stays on all day and won’t come off for less than $10.

The thin tip also helps to prevent you from making mistakes and it’s pretty easy to cover those mistakes up also. As for the drying, it does take about 5-10 seconds, so a little longer than quicker ones but once it’s dried, your eyeliner will be bulletproof for the day.

  2. Fenty Beauty’s Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

This eyeliner is more expensive than Maybelline’s but I truly believe it is worth every penny.

I adore how easy it is to apply eyeliner with this product. It doesn’t take too long to dry either. I would say it takes about the same amount of time as Maybelline’s liquid eyeliner. I personally like the easy-grip to this eyeliner. I think that’s what makes it easier to apply the eyeliner.

This product is not waterproof, but it is water-resistant. I will admit that this eyeliner does smudge. If you are in a humid area, the eyeliner will smudge on your eyelids. If you are in an area or place that isn’t too humid or is cold or fairly warm, then you will be fine.

However, I love this eyeliner because I am all about dramatic cat-eyes/winged liner. This liquid eyeliner has a pretty thick tip and will help me to get the dramatic look I was going for. I have hooded eyes, so technically, a thick tip isn’t ideal for me or for people with hooded eyes, but I love it as it helps me to get the look I want.

It only comes in black but the color is bold and not a faded black color. You can see the boldness of this eyeliner up close and far away. The color is perfect for anyone who does not want a faded black eyeliner and wants something that is true black.

This eyeliner is long-lasting as well. I will apply the eyeliner at 6AM and it will last me all day and even into the evenings. I never have to reapply or darken them again, so I know I can count on this eyeliner to last.

A hyper-saturated, water-resistant, liquid eyeliner with an innovative flex tip and easy-grip triangle shape for effortless, no-limit lining that lasts.

  3. Pur Cosmetic’s Pur On Point Liquid Eyeliner

I switch between my liquid eyeliners all the time but lately, this has been my go to eyeliner for the past couple of months. In the morning, it’s the first one I pick up when I start doing my eyeliner.

The tip is not thin. I would say it’s similar to Fenty Beauty’s Flyliner, possibly thicker but I adore it anyway because I love have a bold, dramatic eyeliner look. The color is definitely a true black so I don’t have to worry about my eyeliner fading throughout the day nor do I have to reapply.

What I like about this liquid eyeliner is that applying it is easy. The tip glides onto my eyelids and it’s not streaky whatsoever. I never have to worry about this eyeliner smudging on my eyelids. I’ve used it a couple times on my waterline and it didn’t smudge on the bottom either. So whether you want to apply this eyeliner on your eyelids or your waterline, it’s perfect for both!

It also is quick to dry. It dries quicker than the Flyliner and Maybelline’s liquid eyeliner so if you’re in a rush, you don’t have to worry about taking too long with this eyeliner.

It’s about the same cost as the Flyliner but regardless of which one you choose, they both are a hit. This was is specifically water-resistant and smudge-free, though!

  4. Urban Decay’s Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliner

My favorite thing about this liquid eyeliner is that it comes in NUMEROUS colors. I don’t mean as in five different colors, but twenty. So if you have a specific look in mind, there’s a color for it with Urban Decay.

Whichever color you choose, the color is bold enough to see. It isn’t a faded color and you can see the color regardless if you are up close or standing further away. The formula is pigmented so you don’t have to worry about the color fading throughout the day and any color you choose will work amazingly well with your eye makeup.

This liquid eyeliner is also sharp, so if you need an eyeliner for a cat-eye/winged look, then this perfect. Whether you want a small winged look or a dramatic one, this eyeliner works for both. It’s so easy to grip onto the product and apply the eyeliner on your eyelids. It just glides on and dries within 5-10 seconds.

For me personally, what I look for in an eyeliner is if it is smudge-free. I have hooded eyes so it can be hard applying eyeliner on as it may touch my upper eyelids. With that being said, this eyeliner doesn’t smudge onto my eyelids so it automatically became a top best liquid eyeliner for me.

Also, I’m a sucker for cute packaging. The bottle is gorgeous and helps me to easily find it in my makeup bag as it stands out.

The downside to this is that if you use it consistently every day, you will have to buy a new one a month later. They don’t offer that much product inside which is disappointing for the price but in general, the liner works great!

  5. NYX Professional Makeup Matte Liquid Liner

This liquid eyeliner is also a top 5 best for me because of its affordability. I don’t mind spending the money for a really great eyeliner, but with this one, although it is inexpensive, it works great.

The tip is pretty thin so you don’t have to worry about this liquid eyeliner getting all over your eyelids, especially if you have monolids. But even with a thin tip, you can still use it to create any daring and exquisite look.

I personally would recommend this liquid liner to anyone who has had experience using liquid eyeliners as the grip makes it hard to take control of the liner sometimes. I’ve been applying eyeliner for over a decade so I have years of experience. I personally did not struggle applying this eyeliner on and it was easy for me to use it and grip on to it. But if you are using liquid eyeliner for the first time, it may be a little difficult to “control” it.

It’s also smudge-free! I love dramatic eye looks so with this product, I can apply tons and tons of eyeliner and it will not smudge. And it’s pretty easy to take off as well. Whether you’re using a makeup wipe or a liquid makeup remover with a cotton ball, it’s quick and easy to remove.

Whether you’re trying liquid eyeliners for the first time or you’re tired of the ones you’re using or if you just want recommendations, these are my top 5 best liquid eyeliners that I recommend. These eyeliners are perfect for whatever look you want whether you want a simple one or a dramatic look. They are also not too expensive but still worth every penny!
