Did you know that washing your face can improve your mental health? Many people don’t know that there are many forms of self-care to help your mental health, such as a simple skincare routine. I personally have an intense skincare routine that I do every four days but on the other three days, I keep it more simple.
Having a skincare routine is comforting and soothing. Whenever I do it, I am usually in my bathroom, alone, or in my room if the bathroom is occupied. This is the only time I have to myself where I am at peace with no one else bothering me or telling me what to do. So for those of you who need something that’s quiet, peaceful and calming, a skincare routine is all three of those! You’re there by yourself and you’re free to talk to yourself, listen to music, dance or just meditate. This time is for you and you only, and it’s calming.
Where to Start
A skincare routine can be as simple or complex as you want. If you are just starting out, I recommend having a simple skincare routine so that you are not overwhelmed right off the bat. A simple skincare routine can start off with a cleanser, exfoliator, serum, and then finally a moisturizer. Once you are comfortable with skincare, find the right products or ready to fully delve into skincare, then you can start making your skincare routine more intense. But for now, a simple skincare routine can be useful and essential for your mental health.
Skincare routines can start off as a trial and error but if you keep going, it can be one of the best self-care regimens for your mental health. When you have a skincare routine, you’re taking care of your skin and helping your skin to improve. In my personal experience, whenever I look good, I feel good for the day. Having a skincare routine can impact your mental health because it will help you to feel great, amazing and confident. When you take care of your outer appearance, it helps build inner confidence and you begin to see yourself in a beautiful light.
The Benefits of a Skincare Routine
Skincare routines can impact your mental health by easing stress whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed by giving yourself time to unwind, relax and to find your happy place. It can help to calm your anxiety attacks and just help you feel more relaxed when you take the time out of your day to take care of yourself.. It can feel like a chore sometimes, but once you finish, you’ll be glad that you did it and you’re going to feel so at ease afterwards. Personally, I always feel better after I start my skincare routine and I always feel like I accomplished something important once I’m done. It’s a great way to be at peace with yourself.
A simple skincare routine can also be a great way to help you fall asleep quicker. When you find your happy place, putting your mind and body at ease, you will wind down faster before bed, and before you know it, you’ll be fast asleep. You’ll have a better time trying to go to sleep and it’ll be easier to be in sleep mode. So If you’ve been struggling to sleep or if you toss and turn a lot at night, try doing a skincare routine right before bed. Your mind will be calm and you’ll feel ready for dreamland.
Sometimes looking at yourself in the mirror can be intimidating but having a consistent skincare routine can help you to learn to love yourself and to see your mind and body working together. It’s a good way to learn to not let your mind control how you see your body. A simple skincare routine is more than just washing your face
