My 7 Favorite Things About January (food, makeup, and more).

Hey guys!!

Today we’re talking about my favorite things from the month of January! From month to month, I run my errands and, of course, find little things here and there that are new for me to try. Sometimes I love them and buy them over and over again, and other times those things turn out to be a complete waste of time and money.

Lucky for you, I’m not going to make you go through the annoying trial and error phase of trying out new things, I’m just going to give you a master list of my favorite things every month.

I hope you enjoy this post and look forward to it coming back each and every month!

Beauty:

Uggs

My mom got me a pair of Uggs for Christmas and I wear them all the time! I think I had a pair back in high school, but I must’ve forgotten how nice they are. Not only are they ridiculously warm, but they are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I wear mine to work, around the house, to run errands, etc..

I know they are pricey, but they are absolutely worth the investment in my opinion!

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product

My hair is an absolute nightmare to brush through after I shower, even if I use regular conditioner. This has to do with the fact that I have really fine hair that is also moderately damaged from all the coloring I’ve done to it. So, a good detangler/leave-in product is absolutely necessary for me!

I got this product from my mom and I use it every single day after I take a shower because it leaves my hair easy to brush through and then when it dries it’s not frizzy and damaged-looking. Because of how much I love to color my hair, I’ve tried so many different products similar to this one, but this one is my favorite for sure.

Food:

The Halal Guys

Ahhhh!!! Just take all my money, please!

If you’re not familiar with ‘halal’, I can make you a fantastic recommendation on what to get when you try this place for the first time. When I get The Halal Guys, I usually get the Combo Platter- Regular, which is a chicken and gyro platter with rice, salad, pita bread, and their famous white and red sauces.

WARNING!!! The red sauce may actually be as hot as the surface of the sun, so beware! The first time I used it, I literally put a tiny drop on my finger to try it out and then ended up only putting a whole 3 drops on the entire platter. Yeah, it’s really that hot!

On the other hand, the white sauce is actual heaven. I can’t really describe what it tastes like, but you should definitely use a full packet on the platter if not two.

Finally, once you’ve added all the sauces and whatnot, I recommend that you mix it all together like a big taco salad and then eat it like that. That’s the best way to do it if you ask me!

Dark Chocolate

As a kid, I would always opt for the sugary-sweet milk chocolate, but as I’ve gotten older and weight has gotten harder to get off, I’ve had to start considering healthier alternatives.

I do most of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s and luckily they have a great dark chocolate bar and dark chocolate peanut butter cups! No, they aren’t that sweet, but they usually do just fine at satisfying my cravings for sweets.

Something I really like about the dark chocolate bar is that it actually comes with two full bars of chocolate in the box instead of just one. Also, I seem to want less of this chocolate than milk chocolate so it lasts me much longer.

When I’m craving chocolate I usually only break off 4 chocolate squares (there are 16 in a full bar) and eat that. It gets me full, plus I’m not just eating and eating and eating chocolate…as chocolate tends to tempt me to do.

Random:

The Grove Collaborative

I have so many good things to say about this company, but here are the top 3:

  1. It costs 0$ to get VIP status within The Grove for the first 60 days while you’re doing the VIP free trial. After the trial is over, it’s only 20$ to stay a VIP for the ENTIRE YEAR! The benefits of being a VIP member are free shipping, free returns, free gifts, and exclusive sales.
  2. The products sold by this company are extremely economical and a healthier alternative to mainstream cleaning and household products.
  3. They give away a whole lot of free stuff!!

So, I’m sure you’re wanting to know what exactly is The Grove…great question!

Let’s be clear here: The Grove Collaborative is NOT an MLM.

The best way I can think to describe it is an online company, similar to Amazon (except with a much less broad variety of products), where you can get household and cleaning items shipped to you on a monthly basis.

Specifically, they sell healthier cleaning/household products from brands like:

  • Mrs. Meyers
  • Method
  • Seventh Generation
  • Caldrea
  • Molly’s Suds

Usually, it costs an arm and a leg to buy “green” cleaning products, but that’s simply not the case here and that’s why I’m straight-up RAVING about this company while feeling no shame!

Additionally, if you use someone else’s referral code when you place your first order, you get a free 5-piece gift set!

Lofi Music

When I get home from work and after my boyfriend and I eat dinner and watch our usual Youtube channels, we turn on some Lofi music to relax before bed.

Now, how to describe lofi….hm. That’s a tough one. Well, let’s start by saying that ‘lofi music’ by definition is a type of music with lower sound quality, allowing you to hear more imperfections in the production than you normally would otherwise.

I know based on that description it doesn’t sound all that great, but I encourage you to give it a try! There are literally millions of people who like to listen to lofi music for its relaxing qualities, not to mention it’s also really great music to study with since it enhances your focus.

A really reputable Youtube channel that is constantly releasing lofi music is Chillhop Music.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Nintendo Switch

For Christmas this year, my boyfriend and I decided to get a Nintendo Switch and, holy cow, I love it! I haven’t been into video games since I was about 12, but I’m so glad we got this because it’s such a nice way to have fun and relax.

As far as games are concerned, I’m obsessed with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and I also like Super Mario Odyssey. I can play Zelda for hours and hours; it’s just such a captivating game and the story sucks you in!

I’d be really interested to hear if any of you out there have Nintendo Switch game suggestions. Leave them in the comments!

Anyway, those were my monthly favorites for January! I hope you take away some new favorites from this list, too!

Much Love,

Mica
