Top 5 Matte Liquid Lipsticks That You Just Have to Try

As someone who’s a makeup fanatic, I’ve tried a ton of liquid lipsticks over the past few years. I’ve discovered so many brands and even repurchased the same liquid lipsticks because I love the formula and the brand that much! I personally love liquid lipsticks that give me a matte finish so for those of you who are still struggling to find the perfect liquid lipsticks, these are the top 5 matte liquid lipsticks that you just have to try.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks

At only $6 for one of their matte liquid lipsticks, Colourpop is one of the most inexpensive makeup brands in the industry. I adore these liquid lipsticks not only because of the affordable price but because of the amazing long lasting quality. I can drink Starbucks all day and the color will last. If eating, it may transfer and need a reapplication.

When I first apply the lipstick, it doesn’t take long to dry. In about 10-20 seconds the lipstick will be fully dry. I get the matte finish that I want with these liquid lipsticks, though I will admit that they are a little drying. I recommend applying lip balm before (or after) putting the application on.

The only thing I dislike about these liquid lipsticks is that when you re-apply the lipstick, it gets somewhat streaky and clumpy in your inner lips. This can be fixed with a quick dab on tissue. With only costing $6, this matte liquid lipstick is the perfect alternative for anyone on a budget. In fact, all of their products are under $20 but they are all amazing quality.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint

Most matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried can be very drying, but Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is not. It’s moisturizing, and I can go hours or even the whole day with this lipstick on and it’s like it’s not even there. Her lipstick isn’t completely matte. It is more of a soft matte but it is matte enough for me.

One of my favorite things about this liquid lipstick is the applicator. It easily glides onto my lips and it’s extremely soft. The applicator makes it easy to apply and it feels smooth on my skin.

If you need to reapply the Fenty Beauty lipstick, it does not get streaky or clumpy. It looks like you applied it for the first time, but the color does transfer. The color moves more than Colourpop but still lasts throughout the day. If you plan on eating, you will have to re-apply this one.

The Fenty Beauty liquid lipstick does cost more than Colourpop but it’s worth every penny. The formula is amazing, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a soft matte finish that lasts all day with minimal color transfer.

Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint

This liquid lipstick is $19 but I stand behind it because it is worth every penny. I use it a couple of times per week.

Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust liquid lipstick stays on, even as I sip my Starbucks throughout the day. When I wear it to work the color barely transfers unless I eat a big meal.

My lips never dry out when I wear this. It’s not moisturizing but it does feel great on. It’s super easy to apply and is lightweight. If you’re looking for a liquid lipstick that isn’t drying, barely transfers and lasts all day, Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust might be for you!

NYX Professional Soft Matte Lip Cream

This liquid lipstick was one of the first that I tried years ago, and it’s still one of my favorites. Like Colourpop, the price is affordable at only about $6.50 a piece, but the savings don’t end there. NYX always has coupons and deals where you can buy one, get one free!

NYX has over fifty shades for you to choose from, so you won’t have any problems finding the perfect color and shade for you. This lip cream is highly pigmented, meaning the color will last for hours even after drinking or eating. The color does start to fade more while eating, but other than that, it does not fade throughout the day, regardless of what color you choose.

One of the downsides of this soft matte lip cream is that it can be drying. Unfortunately, if you already have chapped lips, the NYX Professional Soft Matte Lip Cream will make your lips worse. I recommend putting on lip balm before and after application. Once you moisturize your lips or apply lip balm, the formula will feel lightweight.

This lip cream does get streaky when you have to reapply it, but in general the formula is perfect and it’s easy to layer on. The lip applicator glides easily onto my lips and it smells good too!

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick

After NYX Professional, Sephora’s Collection was the second liquid lipstick I tried, and I fell in love with it instantly!

The price isn’t too expensive. It is more expensive than Colourpop and NYX but more affordable than Cailyn Cosmetics and Fenty Beauty. This liquid lipstick is wonderful because it doesn’t transfer as much as the NYX Professional Soft Matte Lip Cream even though it’s creamy. You don’t need to worry about getting lipstick all over your face when you’re taking a drink or grabbing a quick bite to eat.

The Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick has a matte finish, and the creamy formula is lightweight and non-drying. It easily glides on and the applicator is smooth on the skin as well. It also contains avocado oil to act as a moisturizer, so you never have to worry about chapped lips.

This one made it into my top five because the silky color lasts all day. You can wear this lipstick in the morning and into the night and the color won’t fade. There are also over 60 shades for you to choose from!

For those of you who are getting into makeup or have yet to find the perfect matte liquid lipsticks, these are all perfect because the pigmented color lasts all day. They all give you the matte finish you need to prevent the product from transferring over, plus they’re all affordable. Whether you’re in the market for a new liquid lipstick or you need advice, these are the top five matte liquid lipsticks that you just have to try.
